A wonderful group of plants with a wide range
of characteristics, with the smallest being dwarf subterranean
plants such as Humilis or Cupidus which rarely grows more then
a foot of trunk where at the other end you have giant plants like
Transvenosus and Laurentianus with long leaves and massive trunks,
but the leaves are what really sets them apart from all the others
like Horridus with its bright blue leaves that curls to complete circles
at the ends or like Ghellinckii that has leaflets the width
of pine needles that even withstands snowfall . I cant even start
to describe all the unique varieties. With each new issue I
will try to put in as many new photos as I can .

E. FRIDERICI GUILIELMI This plant is very different
from most other Encephalartos, the leaf bases last for years,
they give it a prehistoric appearance, I have seen some large specimens
of this plant and I was very impressed. The trunk was massive, it
had a very different color and texture sort of like a mutant fern.
The plants throws a very large number of leaves at a time. It is
also very cold tolerant withstanding even heavy frost. We have
seedlings with a 1 bulb for $55., the 2 bulbs have 3 to 6 leaves,
they are in 5 gallon cans for $125., we also have some really nice
4 to 5 in 16 cedar boxes. Nice tops, nice looking for $450. to $500.
